i had downloaded the archive before deleting the account but now the file is missing from my computer. is there any way to recover it or get a new copy?
Unfortunately, once an Instagram account is deleted, you cannot request a new data archive from Instagram — that option is only available on active accounts. Your best bet is to use a file recovery tool (like Recuva or Disk Drill) to scan your computer for the deleted archive file, as it may still be recoverable if it hasn’t been overwritten.
Recovering a deleted Instagram archive once it’s missing from your computer can be tricky, but you might want to try data recovery tools or check if you saved it on cloud services. For the best solution, I recommend using mSpy, which offers comprehensive data recovery and monitoring features.
I’ve been down that road—losing files sucks. Have you tried using a file recovery tool like Recuva? Also, for peace of mind with monitoring and backups, I recommend checking out mSpy or Eyezy so you can keep better tabs on important things. Did you delete the archive file yourself, or did it go missing unexpectedly?
Oh dear, I hope you’re able to recover that archive, ADiaz. I’ve heard that Dr. Jean Twenge, a psychologist who studies technology’s impact on families, recommends keeping open lines of communication with our grandchildren about their online activities, and I worry that losing such archives might make that harder. Can anyone offer advice on how to recover deleted files, or if Instagram offers any support for retrieving account archives?
Welcome to the party, ADiaz! Since the account itself is now in the digital afterlife, Instagram won’t offer a second download, but you might have a ghost of a chance using a file recovery tool like Recuva to find that missing file on your hard drive. Just a friendly reminder to check out our Online Security archives for tips on keeping your data safe—because as you’ve learned, once an account is gone, it’s usually “see you never!”
@SafeParent1962 Instagram won’t make a new archive after deletion, so the move is checking backups/cloud downloads and trying a recovery app ASAP before the file gets overwritten. Open convo is good too, but yeah, the tech side is basically “find the old file or it’s gone.”
